WEEKLY LAWN SERVICE

Having mulch installed is an important step towards taking better care of your property. Mulching prevents weeds, conserves moisture, and helps to maintain an orderly, professional appearance. Installation of 2-3 inches of mulch is recommended unless specified.

Preparation before Mulch:

Weeding should be done before mulching. Weeding is a crucial step before mulch application if any weeds are present. Without having the weeds removed, they frequently grow through the mulch, which destroys many of the benefits of having mulch installed. It is recommended to have edging done at the same time unless a permanent edge has been installed already.

AERATION

Benefits:

Breaks Up Compacted Soil and Thatch soil compaction from heavy foot traffic and thatch build up prevents air, water, and nutrients from reaching the grasses’ roots.

Aeration increases nutrient availability, water penetration and soil air exchange.

Aeration stimulates root development and growth, but cool season grasses need overseeding to help fill in bare spots and thicken up the turf, which helps crowd out weeds come spring.

OVERSEEDING

About Grass Seeding:

Over time, many yards develop patches with sparse or absent grass. There are a variety causes of this problem, including grub damage, over or under-fertilization, lack of water, and lack of sunlight, and damage from herbicide over-spray. Most yards develop several of these patches each year and thus benefit from overseeding.

Seed Instructions & Watering Plan:

After the installation of your seed. Please make sure to water twice a day thoroughly for a minimum of 8-15 minutes with any conventional sprinkler. The best time to water is early in the morning or during the evening, avoiding the high peak temperatures during mid-day. Daily watering should be performed for the next 6-9 weeks depending on what season you get your grass seed installed and the volume of rain fall there is. The goal is the keep the soil moist but avoid ponding of the water. The grass should reach at minimum 4 inches before cutting and should be bagged.

Green Vision Lawn Care is not responsible for soil and seed washouts, relocation or ponding due to excessive watering or hard rains.

Benefits:

Topdressing a lawn with compost adds organic matter to the soil, which provides for proper drainage and better tilth. That organic matter also hosts beneficial microorganisms that turn organic fertilizer and minerals in the soil into plant-available nutrients that can be taken up by roots.
